6.9 Quake in ocean near SF shakes parts of SF Bay Area.

http://www.sfgate.com/news/us/article/Powerful-quake-shakes-N-California-no-injuries-5302768.php

I didn't feel it here although a couple of nights ago we had a thunderstorm pass over my building that put out the loudest thunder rumble I ever heard in my life ! It sounded like multiple artillery fire and was right over my building. My next door neighbor said she thought a car had blown up.

I opened the door and all 3 cats came running in as it began to pour. Fluffy cat RACED into the bedroom and jumped on his perch in the window. Little Girl cat ran in here too as did Fuzzy cat. They were all sitting in front of the door just waiting for me to open it. I never saw Fluffy run that fast in the 10+ years I've had him !

Note that no damage as depicted in the above video occurred but it is about this quake.

Vallejo is across the bridge from here.

Ground motion after a quake is weird. I have felt quakes here, yet someone in Concord 10 miles away won't feel a thing.

Awhile back when that religious nutbag who owns the radio station in Oakland predicted the end of the world at 705 pm on a Saturday, within a minute a quake hit in Hercules, 10 miles on the other side of the major ridge to the left of me. When the quake was felt here , this whole building swayed.

The guy said his predictions were wrong and predicted it a month or so later.

At 705 or so another quake hit centered under Hercules and this building swayed again. Both were 5.0's.

It did give me pause for a minute when they hit right at the time he said the world would end.

There was a quake in Napa about 40 miles away when I lived in Concord. My building there shook back and forth and totally freaked out my 3 cats.

And there was another one 20 miles away in the Piedmont section of Oakland, which is to the right and down the freeway from here and again this building swayed.

I'm convinced if a major quake hits here this building might not survive but I think the hills that surround this area somewhat dissapate the quake motion.

I know a fault line runs under Concord and once felt a quake that was centered under that fault and the building I was in swayed and I thought a semi had hit the building.
