Chinese city goes into lockdown as coronavirus death toll doubles | ABC News
The Chinese city of Wuhan, the source of an outbreak of a new flu-like virus, is closing its transport networks and has advised citizens not to leave the city as the death toll rose steeply overnight.
Hospitals in Wuhan are reportedly dealing with huge numbers of sick patients, raising fears the new coronavirus is spreading faster than official reports suggest.
Bus, subway, ferry and long-distance passenger transportation networks will be suspended from 10am (local time), and the airport and train stations will be closed to outgoing passengers, state TV said.

Chinese authorities have urged people to stop travelling in and out of Wuhan, the city at the centre of a new virus outbreak that has killed nine.

A Chinese city of nearly 11 million people is to temporarily shut public transport as it tries to halt the outbreak of a new virus. The coronavirus outbreak has killed 17 people so far, and there are more than 500 confirmed cases.
Those living in the city of Wuhan have been advised not to leave, as millions of people are due to travel for the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday. The airport and train stations will also be closed to outgoing passengers.
